The horizontal flow filters have been used in Japan for decades and are proven to provide your koi with the ideal environment. We have reworked the design to make the filters more efficient to enable them to be made more compact and easier to install. Our filters have been installed on ponds all over the world since 2008 and many of them are still in use today.

Easy to Maintain Pond Filters
With our ever increasing busy lifestyles it's essential that the filters are quick to maintain and back to 'new' looking after every clean. There are no hidden areas for dirt to hide and a quick visual inspection is all that's needed. Users frequently say these filters "changed my pond forever"- delivering crystal clear water even in high biomass systems. The compact box style design looks clean and can be installed above or below ground.
Excellent Mechanical Filtration + High Flow
High density brushes have massive surface area but remain open-structured, so they trap solids effectively without rapid clogging. They handle high flow rates while keeping pressure drop low - ideal for large or heavily stocked ponds. The brushes are extremely durable and never need to be replaced.
Superior Biological Filtration Efficiency
Horizontal flow ensures water passes over all the media surfaces (85-90%) In contrast other filters suffer from 'tracking' and create stagnant, toxic zones.
Water moves as a broad, turbulent 'block' through the media rather than channeling or falling unevenly. This constant, even exposure to bacteria maximises nitirification while minimising dead spots.
The mats are lightweight, free-flowing, and rinse out quickly (many owners report cleaning annually or never). No need for frequent backwashing or media replacement like other filter systems.

Additional information
The filters can be supplied either as pump fed or bottom drain/ gravity versions. The size of the gravity fed filters is approximately 20cm shorter than the length listed.
All the filters are supplied with the relevant flexible connectors and double union waste valve.
Pump fed models are supplied with a stepped hosetail for easy DIY connection
Gravity fed models will be supplied with either a 3 or 4 inch inlet. Please specify when ordering.
We can build the filters with your choice of pipe sizes and placement if required.
